Aerosol and hand-cut vinyl on an old piece of aluminium composite signage
20.3 x 25.4cm
This piece is actually painted onto an old piece of signage; it used to be the letter ‘P’. I cut off the stem of the letter and stuck it onto the back to form an arch.
It’s an image of a man walking the Yarra trail with the sights and sounds surrounding him. Specifically, the sounds made by a Noisy Miner and a Pied Currawong, which are quite common around the river. I particularly like the sound of the Currawong; it’s beautiful. I’ve also included graphics for the nearby river and the soft breeze that was rustling the trees. The large TWEET is to remind us to look away from our phones and see, hear, smell and sense our beautiful surrounds. The word tweet is not just a social media post, it’s also a beautiful bird call, plus the ever-present human communication of footpath lines and signage.
